WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. This meme involves answering three questions. What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’re going to read next? It’s just a little update to let you know what I’m reading this month and I hope you enjoy!

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Uprooted by Naomi Novik as I’ve been in the mood for high fantasy romance sort of book  after reading Wintersong by S. Jae Jones and Stolen Songbird by Danielle Jensen and loving both. I’m around half way through and have been for a few days as I just haven’t had a huge amount of motivation to pick it back up even though I do like it. It’s written really well and I find it really interesting but I’m not sure how I feel about the romance and the middle just isn’t as fast paced as the first half of the book. Still, I really want to finish this soon as I want to see where the Queen/forest storyline is going.

What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling a few days ago and it was a pretty good book. I’ve only watched Mindy Kaling in The Office (though I really want to watch The Mindy Project) and she’s exactly as I imagined she would be in real life. She’s funny, straight-forward and a really fun writer, I like how blunt she is in her writing and she made me laugh. I liked how each essay or idea is broken up into sections so it’s easy to just read a chunk and then come back to it later.

What do you think you’re going to read next?

I think I might read A Gentleman’s Guide  to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee next as I just got it a few days ago and I really want to read it. It’s a YA historical road trip style novel with a m/m romance and I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it and everybody whose read it seems to love it. I’m honestly so excited to read this book!

Thanks for reading! 🙂

Blog Update/Currently Reading #7

Just a quick update to say sorry for the impromptu hiatus! I don’t really know how it’s already been a month since my last post and I’m really sorry about that. I’ve been ill for a while and generally just procrastinating getting things done but I’m going to try to update more often from now. Both my April Wrap Up and Monthly Book Haul should be up soon and then hopefully I’ll be able to post some reviews of some books I’ve been sent.

I’m currently reading Me Before You and I’m about halfway through. So far I’m actually really enjoying it, far more than I expected to and I can’t wait to go see the film in cinema once I’ve finished it. I can’t wait to see what happens with Louisa and Will though I do have my suspicions! Anyway, thanks for reading and as I said before you can expect more regular posting in the future. 🙂

Blog Update/Currently Reading

Sorry for the lack of posts in the past week or two! I haven’t had the chance to write any posts because my laptop charger has disappeared so I’m having to use the WordPress app for now and it’s not very easy to use.

Since I haven’t really been able to write I’ve been doing more reading, I’m currently reading Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb and I’m enjoying it so far. I also just finished Nimona by Noelle Stevenson which I absolutely loved so all in all I’m doing pretty well on my November TBR. Anyway hopefully I’ll have some reviews up soon as I’m hoping to get a new charger soon. Thanks for reading! 🙂

WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. This meme involves answering three questions. What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’re going to read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’m reading a few books at the moment and those are :

  • The Edge of Reason by Melinda Snodgrass – This is the first in a trilogy starring Richard Oort as a police officer who gets involved in the world of the paranormal. To be honest I’m really struggling with it, I don’t really like any of the characters and the writing style is quite dry and overly descriptive that it’s taking me a while to get through it, hopefully the pace picks up soon!
  • Demon Road by Derek Landy – This is so fun so far! I read a few books in his Skulduggery Pleasant series in secondary school so I knew I’d love his newest book, hopefully I can finish the SP series as well!
  • Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb – I’ve barely started this but I’m already loving it. I found a copy that I must have bought ages ago on iBooks and it’s really good so far. I’ve always heard good things about Robin Hobb and I also own this book in a physical copy so I’m gonna have to pick it up again very soon.

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished The Wicked + The Divine, Vol. 1: The Faust Act. I really enjoyed this but the world building is a bit confusing so hopefully it’ll be more explained in the next volume. The art is really beautiful and I can’t wait to see how the plot develops.

What do you think you’re going to read next?

I really want to pick The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers as I’ve heard such good things and I think I’m going to love it. I’m also in the mood for some contemporary as I’ve read so much SFF recently so I may pick up
Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between by Jennifer E Smith. 🙂

Blog Update/Currently Reading #5

I’m really sorry for the long absence, it’s been a bit hectic with exams and other stuff but since that’s all over now I can hopefully start posting regularly again. I haven’t been reading much because of all the stuff that’s been going on but I’m currently halfway through If You Go Away by Adele Parks. I’m really liking it so once I’ve finished I’ll post a full review!

Anyway I just wanted to update my blog since it’s technically the 1 Year Anniversary of the date I made Read Rant Review so thanks for sticking with me! I may be doing a giveaway soon so be sure to look out for that. I’ll definitely be posting more varied content soon as well! 🙂

Blog Update/Currently Reading #5

Sorry for the absence! It was my birthday yesterday so I was a bit busy during the week with bits and bobs so I’ll hopefully be posting some reviews soon now that everything’s done. I figured I’d give you a little reading update because weirdly I’ve been reading a lot more recently even though I’ve been busier.

Girls Will Be GirlsI’m currently reading Girls Will be Girls: Dressing Up, Playing Parts and Daring to Act Differently by Emer O’Toole which I won in a Goodreads giveaway. It’s a non fiction memoir sort of book about one woman’s experience with gender and feminism throughout her life. I haven’t read much yet but from what I have read it’s really interesting. I’m still 8 books behind on my 100 books Goodreads challenge so I’ve been doing my best to catch up so after Girls Will Be Girls  I’ll probably read Saga V3 because I know I’ll fly through it.

I’m hopefully going to be posting my review of Those Above by Daniel Polansky very soon because I’ve been meaning to for ages. Let me know in the comments what you’ve been reading! 🙂

Currently Reading #4

I’m sorry for the brief absence! I had a big essay to hand in for my coursework so now that I’ve done that I can hopefully start blogging regularly again. I figured I’d give you a little update on what I’ve been reading so here you go!

Winter SIegeI recently finished Winter Siege by Ariana Franklin and Samantha Norman which I gave 4.5 stars. It’s set in 12th century England in the midst of the civil war between Queen Matilda and King Stephen. It’s told from a variety of perspectives of people who are dragged into this war and how they’re all connected. I’m going to post a review very soon but it was a lovely historical fiction and I hope to read more of Ariana Franklin’s older works.

Finn Fancy NecromancyI’m currently reading Finn Fancy Necromancy by Randy Henderson. It’s an urban fantasy about a boy who was exiled to the Other Realm for 25 years and returns to find out that the people who framed him in the first place are trying to get him exiled again. Not only that but he also has to deal with how much the world has changed in his absence and the people his family have become. It’s really interesting so far and I love the magic system ! I’ve nearly finished and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

The ThreeI’ve also started The Three by Sarah Lotz which I received this morning in the post from Hodder. I’ve only read a few chapters but it’s really intriguing and I hope to finish it soon because I can’t imagine where the story is going to go. It’s about a day called Black Thursday where four passenger planes all crashed simultaneously around the world and only three children survived. Before another passenger dies from injuries she obtains in the crash she leaves a disturbing message that is supposed to change the world. From what I’ve read it’s sort of a book within a book as it has different interviews and extracts from people who were there on Black Thursday which I really like. It’s so compelling and I keep having to stop myself from picking it up when I’m supposed to be doing school work! I’ll post a review once I’ve finished.

What are you currently reading? Let me know down in the comments! 🙂
